The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) is offering internships for Medical or Clinical Pathology graduates as Intern Medical Scientists (Grade TC1) on a two-year fixed-term contract for the 2024/2025 intake. During the internship, candidates will work under supervision, gaining specific knowledge and experience in diagnostic procedures and medical science research. This training aligns with the standard operating procedures required for qualifying as an Independent Medical Biological Scientist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic procedures under supervision
• Conduct medical science research as prescribed in standard operating procedures
• Gain discipline-specific knowledge and experience
• Work towards qualifying as an Independent Medical Biological Scientist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)

Qualifications

• 4-year Bsc degree or Honours degree in a Medical/Clinical pathology discipline
• Only graduates with pathology courses will be shortlisted
